Terms of Use
InkSeal is licensed under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (view EULA), which governs your use of the app downloaded from the App Store. The terms below add InkSeal-specific clarifications.
License
InkSeal grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own learning purposes. You may not redistribute, resell, or otherwise commercialize the app or its content (illustrations, etymology references, character explanations).
In-app purchases
- Full Library Unlock is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks access to all characters in the app for the Apple ID that bought it.
- You can re-download the app and tap Restore Purchases on any device signed into the same Apple ID to recover the unlock.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard refund policy. We do not directly issue refunds. To request a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
Content ownership
All illustrations, original etymology summaries, mnemonic copy, code, and design in the app are owned by Buildensity. Source historical glyph references are derived from publicly available datasets under their respective licenses (CC BY 4.0 where applicable).
Your content
Personal mnemonic notes and image feedback that you write inside the app remain yours. By submitting them, you grant Buildensity a limited license to store and display that content back to you on your devices. We do not publish your notes or share them with other users. See the Privacy Policy for storage details.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to reverse-engineer the app, extract bundled assets for redistribution, or use the app to violate the law. We may suspend access if the backend detects abusive automated traffic against the API.
Disclaimer
InkSeal is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that every explanation is academically definitive — many Chinese character etymologies are debated, and we make pedagogical choices to favor what is most useful for learners. For scholarly use, consult primary sources.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Buildensity is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the in-app purchase.
Changes
We may update these terms; changes are posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
