Privacy Policy
InkSeal is built around a simple principle: you don't sign up, you don't tell us who you are, and we don't ask. This policy describes the small amount of data the app does send, why, and where it goes.
Who we are
InkSeal is published by Buildensity (the "Developer", "we", "our"). Contact: admin@buildensity.app.
What we collect
InkSeal does not require an account. There is no sign-up, no email, no name, no phone number. The app does send the following to our backend:
- An anonymous device identifier. When you first open the app, AWS Cognito issues a random identifier (a UUID) tied to your install. It contains no personal information and is not linked to your Apple ID or device hardware. It exists only so we can attach your purchases and notes to your install rather than someone else's.
- In-app purchase records. When you buy the full library unlock, Apple sends us a transaction receipt. We send it to Apple's servers to verify it is genuine and store the result so we can restore your purchase later. We never see your payment method or Apple ID.
- Notes and feedback you choose to write. If you write a personal mnemonic note on a character or tap thumbs-up / thumbs-down on an illustration, that text is stored on our backend, attached to your anonymous identifier.
- Crash diagnostics. If the app crashes, we use Sentry to receive a crash report so we can fix the bug. The report contains the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. It is not linked to your anonymous identifier and contains no personal data.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, emails, names, phone numbers.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA), no tracking across apps or websites.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
- No third-party advertising or marketing SDKs.
- We do not sell or share data with data brokers.
Where the data is stored
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, in the US East region. Stores your anonymous identifier, purchase records, and any notes / feedback.
- Apple — receives in-app purchase verification requests as a normal part of App Store transactions.
- Sentry — receives crash reports for diagnostic purposes.
How long we keep it
Purchase records are retained indefinitely so that "Restore Purchases" continues to work. Notes and feedback are retained for as long as the install exists. Crash reports are retained for 90 days. If you delete and reinstall the app, your old anonymous identifier is no longer connected to the new install — the old data remains in our database but is effectively orphaned.
Your rights
Because we do not have your name or email, we cannot identify "your" data without help. If you would like us to delete the notes, feedback, and entitlements associated with your install, email admin@buildensity.app. We will ask you to send the anonymous identifier (we'll explain how to find it). The same applies if you would like a copy of your data.
Children
InkSeal is rated 4+ and does not knowingly target children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and you would like us to delete the install's data, contact us.
International users
Our backend is hosted in the United States. By using the app you understand that your data is transferred to and stored in the United States. We rely on standard contractual clauses where required.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced in-app.
